Suzuki Jimny JA

1995 – 1998 · India

The Suzuki Jimny is a popular series of four-wheel drive off-road mini SUVs produced by Suzuki, a Japanese automaker, since 1970. Originally designed as a kei-class vehicle to comply with Japan's light automobile tax and legal requirements, Suzuki also offers versions of the Jimny that exceed these limitations for both the Japanese and global markets. As of September 2018, Suzuki has sold around 2.85 million Jimny vehicles in 194 countries. The history of the Suzuki Jimny traces back to the 1960s when the company began its foray into four-wheel drive vehicles by purchasing a Steyr-Puch Haflinger for study purposes. In 1968, Suzuki capitalized on an opportunity to acquire the bankrupt Hope Motor Company, known for their off-road vehicle, the HopeStar ON360. This acquisition laid the foundation for Suzuki to develop and introduce the Jimny series. Key points: 1. The Suzuki Jimny is a series of off-road mini SUVs produced by Suzuki since 1970. 2.
