Toyota Auris E180

2012 – 2018

The Toyota Auris is a compact car by Toyota, introduced in 2006 as a successor to the Corolla hatchback in Europe. The first generation shared its platform with the E150 series Corolla, while the second generation utilized the E180 platform for both the five-door hatchback and the station wagon variant named "Touring Sports". The name "Auris" is derived from the Latin word for "gold", which reflects a sense of luxury and quality. Initially positioned as a replacement for the Corolla hatchback in Europe, the Auris aimed to offer a blend of practicality and style to consumers seeking a compact vehicle. Notably, the saloon version continued to be sold under the Corolla nameplate. With the introduction of the E210 model, Toyota phased out the Auris nameplate in favor of using the Corolla branding, aligning the lineup more cohesively under a single model name throughout most regions. However, Taiwan retained the Auris nameplate for the hatchback version until July 2020, showcasing some regional variations in the naming conventions. Despite the shift in branding, the Auris maintained a strong reputation for reliability, fuel efficiency, and sturdy build quality similar to other Toyota models. In summary, the Toyota Auris served as a compact car option with a focus on quality and practicality, evolving from its origins as a Corolla-derived model to becoming an independent nameplate in select markets before eventually transitioning back to being part of the Corolla
