The Toyota Auris is a compact car by Toyota, introduced in 2006 as a successor to the Corolla hatchback in Europe. The first generation shared its platform with the E150 series Corolla, while the second generation utilized the E180 platform for both the five-door hatchback and the station wagon variant named "Touring Sports". The name "Auris" is derived from the Latin word for "gold", which reflects a sense of luxury and quality. Initially positioned as a replacement for the Corolla hatchback in Europe, the Auris aimed to offer a blend of practicality and style to consumers seeking a compact vehicle. Notably, the saloon version continued to be sold under the Corolla nameplate.
