Toyota Caldina T190

1992 – 2002

The Toyota Caldina is a versatile automobile manufactured by Toyota specifically for the Japanese market from 1992 to 2007. It replaced the Corona and Carina wagons and was available for purchase at Toyota Store and Toyopet Store locations in Japan. Despite never being officially exported by Toyota, the Caldina's All-Trac 4WD capability and spacious interior have led to its popularity as a grey import in various countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Russia, and multiple South American countries. When production ceased in 2007, the T270 series Avensis wagon/estate subsequently took over its market position. The Caldina's name, according to Toyota, is derived from the Italian and English adjective "cardinal," conveying meanings of "essential" and "fundamental." Key Points: 1. The Toyota Caldina was in production from 1992 to 2007 and succeeded the Corona and Carina wagons in the Japanese market. 2. It was never officially exported by Toyota, but its All-Trac 4WD capability and spacious design made it a popular grey import in several countries. 3. The Caldina's market position was taken over by the T270 series Avensis wagon/estate after it was discontinued in 2007. 4. The name "Caldina" is inspired by the Italian and English word "cardinal," signifying "essential" or "fundamental" qualities.
