Toyota Innova AN140

2015 – 2023 · Japan

The Toyota Innova is a popular series of multi-purpose vehicles (MPV) manufactured by Toyota since 2004, known for its three-row seating configuration. Designed to replace the wagon versions of the Kijang, the Innova has been a successful model with various names across different markets including Tamaraw FX/Revo, Unser, Zace, and Condor. Key Points: 1. **Origin**: The Toyota Innova was introduced in 2004 as a successor to the Kijang, utilizing a body-on-frame chassis shared with the Hilux pickup truck and Fortuner SUV. This design choice prioritized strength and durability, catering to customer preferences, particularly in Indonesia. 2. **Generations**: The Innova has had two generations from 2004 to 2022, both rear-wheel-drive models, continuing the tradition of the Kijang's construction. The switch to a front-wheel-drive layout occurred with the third-generation model released in 2022. 3. **Body-on-Frame vs. Unibody Construction**: While the first two generations of the Innova followed the body-on-frame chassis construction for robustness, the 2022 model shifted to a more modern unibody chassis design on the GA-C platform for enhanced efficiency and driving dynamics. 4. **Market Adaptation**: The adoption of the front-wheel-drive layout and unibody chassis in the latest Innova model signifies Toyota's willingness to evolve the design to meet changing market demands
