The Toyota Yaris is a popular supermini/subcompact car produced by Toyota since 1999. This model replaced earlier vehicles such as the Starlet and Tercel. It is worth noting that up until 2019, the Yaris name was used for export versions of various Japanese-market models. Some markets received these vehicles under the name Toyota Echo until 2005. However, as of 2020, the Yaris nameplate has been adopted in Japan and has replaced the previous Vitz nameplate. In addition to the supermini/subcompact version, the Yaris name has been used for other vehicle types as well.
