The Vauxhall Carlton was a notable series of large family car/executive car that was produced in two generations by the Vauxhall division of GM Europe from 1978 to 1994. Based on the Opel Rekord E (Mk.1) and Omega A (Mk.2), the Carlton shared many similarities with its Opel counterparts in terms of engineering and design. Most Carltons, except for the pre-facelift Mk.1 models, were manufactured in the Opel factory in Rüsselsheim.
