The Volkswagen Golf Mk2, the second generation of the popular Volkswagen Golf series, was a hatchback that succeeded the Mk1 model. Produced from 1983 to 1992 in Germany, the Mk2 was known for being Volkswagen's highest volume seller during its production period. The Mk2 was larger than the Mk1, with increased dimensions in terms of wheelbase, length, width, and height. The wheelbase grew by 75 mm, and the exterior dimensions expanded by 180 mm in length, 55 mm in width, and 5 mm in height. As a result, the Mk2 was overall heavier than its predecessor, by approximately 120 kg.
