Volkswagen Sharan 7N

2010 – 2024

The Volkswagen Sharan is a seven-seater minivan produced by the Volkswagen Group at the AutoEuropa plant in Palmela, Portugal. The vehicle was manufactured in two generations spanning from 1995 to 2022. Notably, the Sharan is closely related to the SEAT Alhambra and shares a platform with it as a result of badge engineering. The first generation of the Sharan, known as the Typ 7M, was virtually identical to the Ford Galaxy at the time. The production of the Sharan commenced in 1995 as part of a joint venture between Volkswagen and Ford Motor Company, aimed at tapping into the growing market for multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs). This move was strategic given the popularity of MPVs such as Renault's Espace and Chrysler's Voyager during that period. In 2010, the Sharan entered its second generation, which continued until 2023. The vehicle is typically described as a versatile and practical MPV by industry analysts. Both generations of the Sharan were front-wheel-drive configurations, providing ample space for passengers and cargo.
