1988 – 1996 — France

The Volvo 440 and 460 models were small family cars manufactured by Volvo from June 1988 to September 1996. The 440 was a five-door hatchback, while the 460 was a four-door saloon introduced a year later. Both models were produced at the NedCar factory in Born, the Netherlands, and featured front-wheel drive configurations. Drawing components from the Volvo 480 coupé, the 440/460 Series shared various parts such as the floorpan, suspension systems, Renault-sourced engines, transmissions, and brakes. Meant to be positioned below Volvo's larger saloon and estate vehicles, these models were designed as successors to the 340/360 Series and aimed to compete with cars like the Ford Sierra.
