Volvo 480

1986 – 1995 · Sweden

The Volvo 480 is a sporty compact car that was manufactured by Volvo in Born, Netherlands, between 1986 and 1995. It marked Volvo's debut into the front-wheel-drive segment and stood out as the only Volvo model to boast pop-up headlights. This unique feature added a touch of modernity and sophistication to the vehicle's design. Unlike other Volvo models, the 480 was offered solely in a distinct three-door hatchback body style. This design choice set it apart in terms of form, blending elements of a liftback and an estate vehicle. Initially labeled as a coupé in Europe upon its release in 1986, the Volvo 480 presented a fresh take on the traditional hatchback concept. Built on a platform shared
