The Surfers Paradise Street Circuit runs along the Gold Coast beachfront and has hosted top-level racing since 1991, first the IndyCar Gold Coast Indy 300 and then A1GP and the Supercars Championship's Gold Coast 500. The current 2.96 km, 15-turn layout is a fast run of chicanes between concrete walls, and the October weekend is as much a festival as a race meeting.
