I was watching the Nürburgring 24 Hours and among all the GT3 cars and expensive race machines, there was a Dacia Logan out on track.
An actual Logan.
It looked completely out of place compared to the Porsches, BMWs, and Audis flying around the Nordschleife, but that’s exactly why everyone seemed to love it. The thing was slow, bouncing over curbs, getting passed constantly on the straights, yet it just kept circulating lap after lap.
After the race I ended up reading more about it, and apparently the car has become a bit of a fan favorite over the years. It’s basically grassroots endurance racing at its purest. Cheap car, small team, and a goal of simply surviving 24 hours at one of the hardest tracks in the world.
The Logan also had a proper Nürburgring weekend with penalties, contact, and even needing to be towed at one point, but the team kept going.
Honestly, the onboard footage is worth watching just because of how random the whole thing feels. Seeing a budget family sedan tackling the Green Hell alongside full race cars somehow makes the event even better.
In a field full of serious machinery, the little Dacia ended up being one of the most memorable cars in the race.
