The Acura TL is a luxury car manufactured by Acura, a division of Honda, debuting in 1995 to replace the Acura Vigor. It was also badged as the Honda Inspire and the Honda Saber for the Japanese market. The TL quickly became Acura's best-selling model until it was surpassed by the MDX in 2007. In 2005, the Acura TL was the second best-selling luxury sedan in the United States, following the BMW 3 Series, although sales declined after the 2008 model year. The Acura TL went through four generations, with the final generation premiering in 2008 and production ending in 2014. The first generation of the Acura TL, known as the UA1-UA3 (1996-1998), introduced the "Touring Luxury" model with the 2.5 TL variant featuring a 2.5 L 176 hp (131 kW) SOHC 5-cylinder engine from the Vigor.
