The Alfa Romeo 147 (internal designation Type 937) was a compact front-wheel-drive hatchback produced from 2000 to 2010, replacing the Alfa Romeo 145 and 146 in the brand's lineup. It was introduced at the Turin Motor Show in June 2000 and went on to win the European Car of the Year award for 2001, a recognition that reflected both its styling, penned under the direction of Walter de Silva, and its dynamic credentials. The 147 was offered in three and five-door body styles and drew on the platform and powertrain family that underpinned the contemporary Alfa Romeo 156, including twin-spark and JTD diesel engine options. The performance flagship of the generation was the 147 GTA, which used a 3.2-litre V6 engine derived from the 156 GTA and remains the most driver-focused variant of the 937 series.
