Alfa Romeo 75 161

1985 – 1992

The Alfa Romeo 75 161 represents the foundational variant of the Alfa Romeo 75 lineup, introduced at the model's 1985 launch. Built on a platform carrying over the rear-wheel-drive, transaxle layout that Alfa Romeo used to balance weight distribution, the 75 range was produced at the Portello and Arese facilities through to 1992. The model designation places it within the broader 75 family, which sold nearly 387,000 units over its production life, making it one of the more commercially significant Alfa Romeo models of the era. The 75's combination of front engine, rear gearbox, and independent suspension at all four corners gave it handling characteristics that distinguished it from more conventional compact executive rivals of the period.
