The GT Veloce was a performance-oriented variant within the Type 937 GT lineup, slotting above the standard trim levels to offer a more driver-focused specification. It paired sportier exterior and interior detailing with the GT's existing mechanical underpinnings, which across the range included four-cylinder and V6 petrol engines as well as diesel options, all mounted on a platform shared with the Alfa Romeo 147. The Veloce name carries significant weight in Alfa Romeo history, having been used on faster derivatives of models including the Giulia Sprint and Spider, making its application to the 937 GT a deliberate nod to that heritage. Within the GT's production run of 80,832 units built between late 2003 and 2010 at Pomigliano d'Arco, the Veloce represented the model's more assertive character rather than a wholesale mechanical overhaul.
