The Ambassador was a notable car produced by American Motors Corporation (AMC) from 1957 to 1974 in eight different generations. It was offered in various body styles including two- and four-door sedans, two-door hardtops, four-door station wagons, and two-door convertibles. Initially categorized as a full-size car from 1957 to 1961, it transitioned to a mid-size car from 1962 to 1966, before returning to the full-size category from 1967 to 1974. Remarkably, the Ambassador nameplate enjoyed a long and continuous history from 1927 to 1974, making it the longest-running nameplate in automotive history at the time of its discontinuation
