Ascari Cars, founded by Dutch entrepreneur Klaas Zwart in 1994, emerged in the British automotive scene as a purveyor of limited-edition performance vehicles, named to honor Alberto Ascari, a legendary Formula One champion. The company's initial offering, the Ascari Ecosse, debuted in 1998, marrying racing pedigree with road-going capabilities. Ascari's foray into supercars continued with the KZ1 in 2003, a car developed in their new Banbury facility. Despite the impressive engineering behind vehicles like the KZ1-R and the A10, financial setbacks led to Ascari filing for bankruptcy in 2010. This marked the end of a passionate endeavor in crafting exclusive sports cars known for their performance and racing heritage.
