Aspid

Founded by Ignacio Fernández Rodríguez in 2003, Aspid, previously known as IFR Aspid, is a Spanish automotive brand known for its performance-focused vehicles. The company derives its name from a viper species endemic to northern Spain, symbolizing speed and agility, which are core to Aspid's automotive philosophy. The IFR Aspid made its debut at the British International Motor Show in 2008, distinguishing itself through its advanced technology and innovative design. The car was available in two models: Sport and Supersport. It featured a 2.0L Honda F20C I4 engine, similar to that of the Honda S2000 but tuned by IFR for higher performance. The base model was naturally aspirated, producing 270 hp, while the Supersport version was supercharged, pushing 400 hp. Notably, Aspid held patents for unique automotive technologies, including a twin brake disc system and a lightweight aluminum extrusion chassis. Later, Aspid unveiled the GT-21 Invictus, a sports car that followed the IFR Aspid. It was designed as a contemporary homage to 1960s sports racers, focusing on low weight and robust performance. The GT-21 Invictus housed a BMW 4.4-liter V8 engine with an impressive 450 horsepower. Despite its potential, it's unclear if Aspid's planned annual production of 250 units materialized. Aspid stands as a boutique manufacturer, with fewer than 100 vehicles produced. It's known for its personalized approach to manufacturing, catering to individual customer needs and preferences. Aspid's story is that of a niche carmaker that has demonstrated a commitment to innovation, performance, and luxury in the automotive world.
