Astra

The Astra was an economical microcar produced by the Astra Car Company in Middlesex, England, from 1954 to 1959. Marketed as a budget-friendly option, it was once touted as the smallest and cheapest four-wheeler on the British market. Astra's compact creation featured a rear-mounted Anzani two-cylinder engine and had a lightweight aluminum body. Originally named the Little Horse and created by JARC Motors, it transitioned to the Astra name under British Anzani. The vehicle offered practicality with models such as two-seater estates and four-seat saloons. However, its production was short-lived and ceased by the end of the 1950s. The rights were later purchased by Harold Lightburn of Australia, leading to the creation of the Zeta from 1963 to 1966. Despite its brief existence, the Astra marked a distinct post-war shift towards economical and practical vehicle design in Britain.
