Combining the 167 PS 20-valve inline-five with Audi's quattro permanent all-wheel-drive system, this variant improved on the front-wheel-drive 20V model's 0-100 km/h time by 0.6 seconds, reaching the benchmark in 8.0 seconds. The quattro drivetrain added mechanical complexity and weight but gave the car a handling balance more suited to poor-weather driving and spirited use. It remains the highest-performance variant listed for the B2 90 generation.
