The 740e Steptronic is a rear-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid combining a turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 326 hp and 500 Nm, hitting 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. Unlike the xDrive hybrid variants, it sends power exclusively to the rear axle, preserving a more traditional 7 Series driving character. A usable electric-only range makes it relevant for low-emission zones and company-car tax advantages in many markets.
