The BMW E9, produced from 1968 to 1975, was a series of coupés designed by German automaker BMW. Starting with the 2800 CS model, the E9 was a progression from the earlier BMW 2000 C / 2000 CS four-cylinder coupés, with modifications made to house the BMW M30 six-cylinder engine. The Karmann company was responsible for manufacturing the E9 bodywork.
Due to its racing capabilities, the E9 found success in competitions like the European Touring Car Championship and the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft. The 3.0 CSL homologation model, in particular, gained recognition for its achievements on the racing circuit.
