Bugatti Type 46

1929 – 1936

The Bugatti Type 46 is a large-displacement luxury touring car produced by Bugatti from 1929 to 1936. It was powered by a straight-eight engine of approximately 5.4 liters, positioned by Ettore Bugatti as a more accessible alternative to the flagship Type 41 Royale while still offering refined coachwork and substantial performance for its era. The Type 46 was built in relatively small numbers, as was typical of Bugatti's hand-assembled production cars, and bodies were supplied by various coachbuilders, resulting in a range of open and closed configurations. A supercharged variant, the Type 46S, was also produced, offering increased output for customers seeking more spirited performance.
