The BYD e6 is a battery electric vehicle introduced by BYD Auto in 2009. Despite delays, sales to the public started in Shenzhen in October 2011. The first-generation model underwent field testing in China in May 2010, initially deploying 40 units as taxis in Shenzhen. Following its introduction, the e6 found applications in various countries for fleet services, notably as taxis. It has been in operation in China, Colombia, Belgium, the U.S. (New York and Chicago), the Netherlands, the UK, and Indonesia. In 2020, Australia is set to introduce the e6 taxi fleet, expanding its global presence.
