The Chevrolet Aveo is a front-drive subcompact car, initially introduced by General Motors in 2002 and manufactured by Daewoo Motors as the Daewoo Kalos. Following GM's acquisition of Daewoo, the car was marketed under seven different brand names in 120 countries, with Chevrolet Aveo being the most prominent. The second generation of the Aveo, produced by GM Korea, was launched in 2011 and sold as the Chevrolet Sonic in various regions. Production of the second-generation Aveo/Sonic ceased in October 2020. In an interesting marketing move, GM began marketing the Chevrolet Sail sedan from the Chinese market as the Aveo in Mexico and other Central American countries in 2017.
