Chevrolet Corvette C2

1963 – 1967 · USA

The Chevrolet Corvette (C2), also known as the Corvette Sting Ray, is the second generation of the iconic Corvette sports car produced by General Motors (GM) for the years 1963 to 1967. This model was known for its distinctive design and performance enhancements. The development of the 1963 Sting Ray can be traced back to two separate GM projects: the Q-Corvette and Bill Mitchell's racing Sting Ray. The Q-Corvette project in 1957 aimed to create a more advanced and compact coupe model with innovative features like a rear transaxle, independent rear suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes. The exterior design of the Sting Ray featured peaked fenders, a long nose, and a bobbed tail. Meanwhile, Zora Arkus-Duntov and other GM engineers were exploring mid and rear-engine designs, showcasing the brand's interest in pushing the boundaries of sports car technology. The resulting Corvette C2 model represented a balance of both innovative engineering and striking aesthetics. Key Points: 1.
