As part of the Fleetmaster series, it encompassed the Fleetline sub-series, which was specifically available in 2-door and 4-door "fastback" body styles. Debuting as the principal top-tier model in the 1946 Chevrolet lineup, the Series DK Fleetmaster stood alongside the Series DJ Chevrolet Stylemaster, which occupied a lower level in terms of trim. Taking over from the prewar Chevrolet Special Deluxe, the Fleetmaster was outfitted with a 216.5 cubic inches (3.5 liters) Straight-six engine that was paired with a 3-speed manual
