The Chevrolet Omega is an executive car that was manufactured and sold by Chevrolet specifically for the Brazilian market as a successor to the Chevrolet Opala. The original Chevrolet Omega model, known as the Omega A, was launched in Brazil in 1992. It was based on the Opel Omega A platform and featured local production until 1998. Initially, the Chevrolet Omega A was offered with a choice of two engine options: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine in the GLS and GL trims, and a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine in the CD trim. In 1995, the engines were updated due to the discontinuation of the Omega A in Germany. The new engine lineup included a 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine in the GLS trim and a 4.1-liter straight-six engine in the CD trim, which was a tuned version of the engine used in the previous GM Opala. These engines were enhanced with features like Lotus tuning and electronic multiport fuel injection for improved performance. After the local production of the Chevrolet Omega ceased in 1998, General Motors do Brasil started importing badge-engineered versions of the Holden Commodore from Australia to continue offering the model in the Brazilian market.
