Daewoo Motors, originally founded as "National Motors" in 1937 in Incheon, South Korea, underwent multiple name changes until it adopted its final name, Daewoo Motors, in 1982 after being acquired by the Daewoo Group. Facing financial challenges, Daewoo Motors sold its assets to General Motors in 2002 for $1.2 billion, subsequently becoming a subsidiary of the American automotive giant. In 2011, the company underwent a rebranding, dropping the Daewoo name entirely and transitioning into GM Korea. The Daewoo brand was replaced by the Chevrolet marque as part of this restructuring.
