Derways Automobile Company, a pioneering Russian automaker based in Cherkessk, Karachay-Cherkessia, was established in 2003 as Russia's first private car manufacturer under the Russian Mercury Group. Operating within a joint venture with Chinese companies Lifan Group and Liaoning SG Automotive Group Co., Ltd since June 2007, Derways focused on producing 100,000 units for the local market. In line with their expansion plans, Derways inaugurated its second plant in fall 2009.
