The 2.5 that revs harder than its bigger brother, twin-turbo early and single-turbo VVTi later.
The 2.5-litre turbocharged member of Toyota's JZ family. Early versions ran parallel twin turbos; from 1996 a single turbo and VVT-i replaced them. Shorter stroke than the 2JZ makes it the keener revver, and Japan's 276hp gentlemen's agreement capped every version on paper.
