2JZ-GTE

3.0L twin-turbo inline-six

1991 – 2002 — Toyota

The cast-iron block and closed-deck design that made it the default big-power swap.

Toyota's 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six, built from 1991 to 2002. Sequential turbochargers gave it a flat torque curve, and an iron block with a closed deck let tuners chase power far beyond the factory figure. That headroom, more than the standard output, is why it became the most swapped engine in the world.

A single turbo 2JZ-GTE making 700hp in an IS300. Proof of why the 2JZ ended up in everything, not just the Supra.

A full 2JZ-GTE build from bare block to over 1,000hp. Worth watching the whole way through if you have ever wondered what actually goes into one.
