ERA

The ERA (English Racing Automobiles) brand, established in the 1930s, marks a prestigious chapter in British motorsport history. Founded by Humphrey Cook, Raymond Mays, and Peter Berthon, ERA was dedicated to building competitive race cars, a vision that became a reality with their iconic R1A. The first ERA vehicle debuted at Brooklands in 1934 and was celebrated for its engineering excellence and performance on the racetrack. Transitioning from its golden age in pre-war racing, ERA's influence waned post-World War II, but its legacy endured through its technical innovations and the racing successes of the 1930s. Today, the brand is remembered for its pioneering contributions to motorsports and its role in fostering British engineering talent. ERA's early vehicles continue to be celebrated in vintage racing circles, highlighting a rich heritage that still captivates enthusiasts around the world.
