The Ferrari 308 GTS is a mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive sports car produced by Ferrari from 1977 to 1985, offered as a targa-bodied variant of the 308 GTB coupe with a removable roof panel. Power comes from a transversely mounted 3.0-liter V8 engine, initially with four Weber carburetors and later with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection from 1980 onward, which reduced output in some markets to meet emissions regulations. The 308 GTS gained widespread recognition through its prominent role as the car driven by the title character in the American television series Magnum, P.I., which aired from 1980 to 1988 and significantly raised the model's public profile. Notable variants include the 308 GTSi with fuel injection, the 308 GTS Quattrovalvole introduced in 1982 with a revised four-valve-per-cylinder head that recovered much of the power lost through emissions tuning, and fiberglass-bodied early examples produced before Ferrari transitioned to steel bodywork.
