Fiat Croma 194

2005 – 2011

The Fiat Croma was produced in two distinct generations, with the first generation spanning from 1985 to 1996. Designed by renowned designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, the original Croma featured a five-door liftback style and was built on the Type Four platform shared with Saab 9000, Lancia Thema, and Alfa Romeo 164 models. This iteration of the Croma marked Fiat's entry into the large family car segment and also introduced a transversely mounted engine and front-wheel-drive system, breaking new ground for Fiat in car design. In 1985, the Fiat Croma was launched as a replacement for the Fiat Argenta. A year later, the car received a light facelift in 1988, showcasing subtle design changes. The first generation Croma was well-received for its contemporary design, spacious interior, and innovative engineering choices. However, production ceased in 1996 after over a decade on the market. After a hiatus, Fiat reintroduced the Croma name in 2005 with a new crossover station wagon model that was manufactured and sold until 2010. The second generation Croma had a different design and target market compared to the earlier liftback model, catering to the growing demand for versatile and practical crossover vehicles. In summary, the Fiat Croma encompassed two generations of large family cars that showcased Fiat's design and engineering prowess.
