The Fiat Croma was produced in two distinct generations, with the first generation spanning from 1985 to 1996. Designed by renowned designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, the original Croma featured a five-door liftback style and was built on the Type Four platform shared with Saab 9000, Lancia Thema, and Alfa Romeo 164 models. This iteration of the Croma marked Fiat's entry into the large family car segment and also introduced a transversely mounted engine and front-wheel-drive system, breaking new ground for Fiat in car design. In 1985, the Fiat Croma was launched as a replacement for the Fiat Argenta. A year later, the car received a light facelift in 1988, showcasing subtle design changes.
