The Ford Crown Victoria, also known as the "Crown Vic," was a full-size sedan manufactured by Ford as the successor to the Ford LTD Crown Victoria. The vehicle was produced in two generations from 1992 to 2012 and was the largest sedan offered by Ford in North America, positioned above the Ford Taurus. The Crown Victoria shared the rear-wheel-drive, body-on-frame Ford Panther platform with models such as the Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car. Designed for various purposes, the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor was tailored for law-enforcement use from 1992 to 2011. In addition, a long-wheelbase version of the sedan was introduced in 2002 specifically for taxi cab fleets. This shows the versatile nature
