The Ford Freestyle was an SUV crossover vehicle produced by Ford from 2005 to 2009 as a successor to the Ford Taurus station wagon and meant to complement the Ford Five Hundred and Mercury Montego sedans. The Freestyle shared the Ford D3 platform with the Five Hundred and Montego, offering options of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and accommodating either six or seven passengers. In 2008, with the return of the Ford Taurus, a mid-cycle refresh was implemented for the Freestyle, resulting in a new name - Ford Taurus X.
