Ford V8

1932 – 1940

The Ford V8 was an American passenger car produced from 1932 through 1940, representing Ford's transition away from the four-cylinder engines that had defined the Model A era. It is best known for introducing a low-cost, mass-produced flathead V8 engine to the mainstream market, making eight-cylinder performance accessible to ordinary buyers for the first time at its price point. The lineup spanned multiple body styles across its production run, including coupes, sedans, roadsters, and convertibles, with Ford regularly updating the range in annual model cycles. One documented generation, the Model 91A 73B, covered the 1938 and 1939 model years and represented the later, more streamlined phase of the series, which had progressively moved toward smoother, more rounded styling as the decade progressed.
