The Ford Windstar, later known as the Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey, was a minivan produced by Ford as a replacement for the Ford Aerostar. It featured a front-wheel drive configuration similar to Chrysler minivans. The Windstar was available in three generations from 1995 to 2007, with the final generation rebranded as the Ford Freestar. Unlike the Nissan-developed Mercury Villager, the Windstar was not associated with a Lincoln-Mercury counterpart. In 2004, Ford introduced the Ford Freestar while Mercury revived its minivan lineup with the Ford-produced model under the name Mercury Monterey. The Windstar's design and features made it a popular choice among families looking for a versatile and spacious vehicle
