The Trumpchi GS8 is a mid-size crossover SUV manufactured by GAC Group under the Trumpchi brand in China and globally under the GAC Motor brand. The first generation was launched in 2016, distinguishing itself as the largest vehicle in the Trumpchi lineup at that time. Its debut was at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show and later showcased at the Detroit Auto Show. Designed by former Mercedes-Benz designer Fan Zhang, the Trumpchi GS8 of the first generation boasts a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine generating 148 kW (201 PS; 198 hp) at 5,200 rpm and 320 N⋅m (236 lb⋅ft; 33 kg⋅m) of torque between 1,750 and 4,000 rpm. This power is managed by a six-speed automatic gearbox, transferring power to either the front wheels or all four wheels. The first-generation model led to the introduction of a smaller 5-seater variant known as the Trumpchi GS7, which was later refreshed in April 2020 and rebranded as the Trumpchi GS8S. The second generation of the Trumpchi GS8 was unveiled in 2021, featuring an expanded size with a longer wheelbase in comparison to its predecessor.
