Gumpert

Gumpert, a name that once evoked the raw thrill of motorsports, emerged from the ambition and expertise of Roland Gumpert, a former Audi executive known for his contributions to Audi Sport's rally successes. Founded in 2004, Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur quickly established itself with the launch of the Gumpert Apollo, a supercar that combined street legality with track performance. The Apollo, designed with assistance from the Technical University of Munich and Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences, showcased an advanced use of aerodynamics and lightweight construction. Despite the technical brilliance and performance records of the Apollo, including remarkable lap times at Nürburgring, Gumpert faced financial instability, leading to bankruptcy in 2013. The company's narrative took a turn when it was rebranded as Apollo Automobil, attempting a resurgence with new models and a focus on innovative technologies like the electric-powered Gumpert Nathalie. Today, under the Apollo Automobil brand, the company continues to strive for a blend of luxury, performance, and technological advancement, yet the journey from its audacious beginnings through financial troubles to its current endeavors encapsulates the volatile nature of the high-performance automotive industry. The legacy of Roland Gumpert lives on in every curve and innovation, driving forward with an eye towards the future of mobility.
