Haval, a Chinese automotive brand under Great Wall Motors (GWM), specializes in crossovers and SUVs. It became a standalone brand in March 2013 after being separated from a product line of GWM. As of 2024, Haval is the most popular among the brands under GWM, including Tank, Ora, and Wey. The name Haval was initially associated with the Great Wall Haval CUV, which was originally called Hover before being rebranded as the Haval H3. This model, introduced in April 2005, marked one of the early compact SUVs produced by local manufacturers and served as a successor to the Great Wall Safe. The Haval CUV features a more 'urban
