Hino

Hino Motors, rooted in its early days as a part of the Tokyo Gas Industry Company in 1910, was officially established as Hino Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. in 1942. Transitioning from wartime manufacturing to peacetime production, Hino shifted focus to commercial vehicles, including the landmark launch of the Hino Contessa 900 in 1961, a compact car developed in collaboration with Renault. In 1966, facing financial difficulties, Hino formed a pivotal alliance with Toyota Motor Corporation, which reshaped its direction towards specializing in trucks and buses. This partnership marked a significant shift, focusing on heavy-duty vehicles and ceasing passenger car production by 1969. Today, Hino continues to innovate within the commercial vehicle sector under Toyota's wing. It leads in technological advancements with introductions like the world's first commercial hybrid vehicle in 1991 and the pioneering pre-collision system for trucks in 2006. Hino’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its recent strides towards carbon neutrality and ongoing improvements in vehicle efficiency and environmental impact. The company's adaptability and persistent emphasis on technological leadership have kept it at the forefront of the global commercial vehicle market.
