Hispano Suiza

Hispano Suiza, a name resonating with grandeur and innovation, was founded in 1904 by Damià Mateu and Marc Birkigt in Barcelona. Initially known for its luxury cars, the brand rapidly became synonymous with avant-garde engineering and sophisticated design, catering to a clientele of aristocrats and artists. The Alfonso XIII model, named after the Spanish monarch, stands as a testament to the brand's early excellence in automotive construction, blending performance with luxury during the Belle Époque era. Throughout the 1910s and 1920s, Hispano Suiza expanded its prowess into aviation, developing engines that significantly contributed to the Allied efforts in World War I. This diversification not only solidified its reputation as a national symbol of pride but also enhanced its prestige in the automotive sector. After the war, the brand continued to innovate with the introduction of the Hispano-Suiza H6, which featured groundbreaking technology like power-assisted brakes—a feature so advanced that Rolls-Royce adopted it for their own vehicles. Fast forward to today, Hispano Suiza has made a dramatic resurgence in the automotive world with the Hispano Suiza Carmen, a fully electric hypercar unveiled in 2019. This model, along with its sportier variant, the Carmen Boulogne, embodies the brand's century-old legacy of innovation and luxury, now redefined for the electric era. With these recent endeavors, Hispano Suiza continues to exemplify a blend of historic prestige and contemporary innovation, ensuring its place in the pantheon of luxury automotive brands.
