The Honda City Cabriolet was a 2-door convertible variant of the first-generation Honda City, offered alongside the 3-door hatchback for the Japanese, European, and Australasian markets from 1981. Built on the same subcompact platform as the standard City, it represented an uncommon factory convertible offering in the small car segment of that era. The Cabriolet shared the City's transverse-mounted engine and front-wheel-drive layout, keeping it practical and mechanically straightforward despite its open-top body style. Its significance within the City lineage lies in its early demonstration of Honda's willingness to offer body style variety in the entry-level segment, a practice that would not carry forward when the nameplate was relaunched in 1996 as a more conventional four-door subcompact.
