The Hudson Motor Car Company, based in Detroit, Michigan, was established in 1909 by a group of eight businessmen with the goal of creating affordable automobiles. Named after Detroit entrepreneur Joseph L. Hudson, the company aimed to produce vehicles priced below $1,000. Hudson cars gained popularity with consumers for their quality and value. The company continued to manufacture Hudson-branded vehicles until 1954 when it merged with Nash-Kelvinator to form American Motors Corporation (AMC). After the merger, the Hudson name was retained for a few more years, with production ceasing in 1957.
