Hudson Motor Car Company, established in 1909 by Howard Coffin, George W. Dunham, and Roy E. Chapin, emerged from Detroit's booming automotive scene. Named after Joseph L. Hudson, a Detroit department store magnate who provided the initial funding, the brand quickly distinguished itself with innovative designs and robust engineering. Its first car, the Hudson "Twenty," was a remarkable success, setting the foundation for a legacy of automotive excellence. Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, Hudson continued to innovate with its "Super Six" and later the "Commodore," both of which were praised for their performance and luxury. By the 1950s, Hudson had merged with Nash-Kelvinator to form American Motors Corporation (AMC), in response to the growing pressures from larger automakers. Today, the Hudson brand is celebrated in vintage car circles, revered for its contributions to early automotive technology and design.
