The Hyundai Equus, a luxurious full-size sedan manufactured by Hyundai Motor Company, was produced from 1999 to 2016 across two generations. The name "Equus" is derived from the Latin word for "horse," symbolizing elegance and power. The second-generation Equus, launched in 2009, featured a sophisticated rear-wheel-drive platform, emphasizing performance and comfort. The Equus was sold in various markets including South Korea, Russia, China, the United States, Canada, and parts of Central and South America. In the Middle East, it was marketed under the name Hyundai Centennial. In a strategic move, Hyundai announced in November 2015 that the Genesis model would be rebranded under the new luxury division, Genesis Motor.
