Kia Ceed ED

2006 – 2012 · South Korea

The Kia Ceed, formerly known as the Kia Cee'd until 2018, is a compact car manufactured by the South Korean automaker Kia exclusively for the European market. Launched in 2006, the Ceed marked a significant milestone as the first Kia vehicle designed entirely in Europe, catering specifically to European customers. The unique name of the car was derived from the initials of the European Economic Community (EEC or CEE in various languages) with 'ED', representing European Design. The name 'Cee'd' was created by combining these elements, with an apostrophe replacing the final 'E' to form a distinct and catchy moniker. However, the apostrophe was removed from the name after 2018.
